Saturday Field Trip

We had another field trip today to the Birds of Prey exhibit and touring around Pietermaritzburg. We first stopped at the train station where Gandhi was evicted from his first class compartment for not being white. This sparked Gandhi's fight against racial segregation. It all started at this train station!

On the drive to the birds of prey I sat up front with Baba Phillip and got to talk with him :) I asked him how he got into country music and he told me one morning he woke up at 4:30 AM and turned on the radio and they had a half-hour segment that played country music.  He said he fell in love with it and would wake up early every morning to listen to it. Now that's dedication.  Baba said on days when he wasn't able to listen to it he felt like there was something wrong/off (as he pointed to his heart).  I believe he summed up country music perfectly :)

The birds of prey exhibit was pretty cool (considering I usually hate birds!) My favorite part was the owls. They were so cute!

Tonight we all went out to dinner for Janet's birthday!! She is one of our CLCs (like an RA). We sat over 50 people at 2 long tables! Everyone got dressed up and it was a fun and tiring night!
